Biography

Alejandra Herrera, MSOT, OTR/L is passionate about working with young children as early as possible and being able to watch them progress and grow throughout the years. As a new graduate, she is passionate about educating families about the role of Occupational Therapy in Early Intervention and sensory processing, especially Spanish-speaking families that typically have less familiarity with those terms. Previously, Alejandra worked as a Registered Behavior Technician in ABA, where she was able to see OTs work right alongside children and families to help them reach their goals. Alejandra enjoyed the holistic approach of OT and  building relationships with entire families while incorporating strategies into their existing routine, which is what drove her into a career in OT.

Most of Alejandra’s caseload is children with sensory processing but she also works with children with motor diagnoses and challenges such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and Brachial Plexus. Alejandra guides her practice through sensory integration theory, the Person-Environment-Occupation-Performance (PEOP)  Model, and the Intentional Relationship Model.
